If i sync my folders to google drive and a hacker breaks into Google and deletes my files on google, will it delete my files on my laptop? Nope, though if you only access your files via Gdrive using a laptop then the files will be gone. But if you have them natively on your hard drive, they should be sound even if Gdrive is hacked. Are you sure about that? As far as I understand synching usually works both ways!
So if I delete something on the local hard drive, it wil also be deleted from the Google cloud drive. If I delete something in the Google Cloud Drive, it will most likely affect the local hard drive also? Google Drive should not in any way be considered as a backup. It is a file syncing and sharing environment. Yes you have versioning, but this will not restore current files. Files encrypted with Ransomware will sync back to google drive unless syncing is turned off. Always invest time in a proper backup solution to another cloud provider or external device that way you can recover your files quickly and easily.
I can only find the sync option but not the backup.
